This cabin belonged to good friends of mine who generously invited me to use it. I wrote major portions of my novel, "The Compromise...a love story" in this Southern California mountain cabin.

I've camped and painted many times at Yosemite National Park in the California Sierra National Forest. I made a series of watercolors--most of which I sold right off the watercolor pad I was using; as plein aire artist in the national park I was often surrounded by interested visitors, including some who offered to buy my paintings.

However the graphite sketches I made while walking the trails in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, I still have on my Drawing pad and can share with you here.

My 1st Campsite in Yosemite, May 2003A small graphite sketch of the tent and tableThis site, with my new tent, was in the woods, just outside the Valley Floor. As an early summer visitor, I was the only one in this huge campground--other than the bears. I've also camped up in the high meadows, down by the river, and amid the Sequoias.

Entrance to Tharp's LogA cabin built inside of a downed, giant sequoia log. Inside it was a fine, small cabin with a cot, table, and marvelous fireplace. I thought of moving in as it was bigger--and warmer--than my tent.7 x 9.5, graphite on paper
